The 12th Ave S and S Jackson St intersection is one of Seattle’s busiest transit hubs, serving a dense mix of residents, workers, and visitors in the Chinatown-International District. I designed an informational flyer to help the community understand and engage with proposed improvements addressing safety, accessibility, and capacity.
Design Objective: Communicate proposed transportation improvements at 12th Ave S and S Jackson St in Little Saigon through a clear, culturally relevant format that supports inclusive community engagement.
My design strategy focused on creating an approachable visual layout rooted in the cultural identity of Little Saigon. Drawing from my own Vietnamese American upbringing, I incorporated recognizable elements such as the neighborhood’s red streetlamps, along with lotus motifs and warm color tones to evoke familiarity within the community.
The flyer incorporates bilingual content in English and Vietnamese to improve accessibility, paired with clear hierarchy and iconography to guide understanding. These visual and linguistic choices make the information more relatable and easier to navigate.
The final design makes complex project details more understandable and relevant, supporting more inclusive outreach and meaningful community engagement.
